Birth Papers Exhibition
‘Birth Papers’ is a travelling Caribbean exhibition, dedicated to championing Caribbean contemporary design across the diaspora.
A bespoke series of handwoven panels titled, ‘Sea, Land, People’ features in the exhibition and focuses on the use of West Indian Sea Island Cotton.
Using a combination of hand-dyeing and weaving techniques the collection of work creates space for reflection and appreciation for Caribbean materiality and design.
The exhibition takes place between May and July 2026 at El Kilometro, Santurce, Puerto Rico and 81C St Thomas, USVI.
Rose Uniacke, London Craft Week
Following the Emerging Weaver of the Year Award 2025, sponsored by Rose Uniacke, the team commissioned Leonie to create a piece for London Craft Week 2026.
The piece was displayed at the Pimlico Road fabric showroom for the week accompanied by a weaving residency for the week.
Working collaboratively with the team to design a wall hanging, the piece took inspiration from Rose Uniacke’s Sheer Linen Wool Blend, ‘Breeze’, and featured West Indian Sea Island, lambswool and cashmere.
All profits from its sale will be donated to the Heritage Crafts to further support their efforts in supporting craft makers.
Rise Up Collection
A limited collection of cushion covers created for the Fitzwilliam Museum and Curating Cambridge, to coincide with the Rise Up exhibition.
The exhibition shines a light on the revolutionaries of the Caribbean and runs from February-June 2025. In line with this theme, the museum’s gift shop are highlighting Caribbean artists.
Taking initial inspirations from visual research of Caribbean landscapes, the collection features bold and playful handwoven and printed patterns.
Platform Edition III
A collaborative project for the Christopher Kane x We Are Face collaborative digital zine ‘Platform’, edition III.
The project explored textiles and identity through portraiture, featuring a digital backdrop of Caribbean inspired jacquard textiles.
The organisations provided a platform to showcase work in a collaborative manner along with other creatives and was featured in numerous online publications including Vogue Italia and Vogue Germany .
